New deputy care manager joins team in Telford

A new deputy care manager has joined the team at a Shropshire care company.
Rachael Corbett, 33, of Pattingham, has taken on the role at Sentinel Care Services straight after leaving university.

Based in the head office at Stafford Park, Telford, Ms Corbett has worked in the industry for three years.

She said: “I was a community care worker before but decided to go to university so I can start to climb up the ladder.

“I did my placement here and was thrilled when they decided to offer me a job.

“I am settling in and really enjoying the role – it is a lot more background and behind the scenes work compared to my previous role, working with social workers, putting people’s care programmes in place and dealing with any changes.

“But I also work out in the field as well so I know who the people are instead of just being a name to me.

“I feel like I have the best of both worlds being out in the field and doing the office work – I have a lot of opportunities here.”

Ms Corbett had not considered care work as a career option before but once she tried it she realised how much she enjoyed it.

She completed her degree in Community Health and Social Care at Wolverhampton University last summer.

“The job satisfaction is brilliant,” she said.

“Knowing you’re helping someone and can do something to better their lives is wonderful.

“I meet lots of new people all the time, the team are great here and very supportive of me too.”
Sentinel Care Services launched in Shropshire earlier this year and is continuing to expand it’s services to anyone with care needs across Telford & Wrekin, Shrewsbury, Whitchurch, Wem and Mid Staffordshire too.

The company also has openings for community care workers and nursing staff.

Director Steve Harris said he was thrilled to have Ms Corbett on board and looking forward to expanding the team further.

He said: “Rachael was a great asset to our team when she completed her university placement here so we were in no doubt that we wanted to offer her a job.

“She is fitting in very well and working very hard, making a difference to the team and the company as well.

“We are pleased to have been able to give her this promotion but we know she wants to be in the community with our customers as well so we are giving her every opportunity we can.
“Our staff are always offered training and clear progression paths and Rachael is a great example of this.

“We are still looking to recruit more staff as we continue to expand the services we offer and the areas we cover.”
