Liberty Belles offers a lifeline to people in Telford who struggle to get out and about on their own – and we would like to introduce you to our team.
Sally Harris and Rachel Powell head up the service and have a wealth of experience in the care industry.
Sally is a director of Sentinel Care Services and the wife of managing director Steve. She has been with Sentinel since the beginning, was the first qualified registered care manager in Shropshire, taught youngsters with special needs and is committed to helping people live as independently as possible.
Rachel is a qualified emergency first aider, has an NVQ Level 2 in Social Care and completed a mental health awareness course. She has been with Sentinel for six years, has medication and dementia training and worked with adults with disability.
Sally said: “Rachel and I are really looking forward to establishing Liberty Belles in the local community and providing a service for people who may feel trapped in their homes and have difficulty getting out and about.
“Going shopping, visiting the local hospital for an appointment or experiencing the delights of a day out are something most of us do without a second thought but there are those in our community who have difficulty with these things and this is what Liberty Belles is aimed at.
“Liberty Belles will help by giving people the independence to attend that medical appointment or to go shopping – anything they want, really, safe in the knowledge they have the support of a driver accompanying them who is a trained professional carer.
“Our hope is that Liberty Belles will bring a level of independence back into people’s lives and give them a renewed confidence to go out into the world again. The service is aimed at, but not exclusively for, the elderly as this is the group experiencing the biggest problems involved in losing independence.”
Rachel said: “I have loved my job in the care industry and find it very rewarding knowing that I have helped the client so they can enjoy the rest of their day.
“I enjoy meeting different customers from different cultures and backgrounds and just knowing I can help someone is an amazing feeling. Liberty Belles will allow us to extend that help to the wider community and I am really looking forward to being able to make a difference to their lives.”
